Pretrial Services - Global Positioning System Electronic Monitoring Devices

During the pretrial phase of criminal proceedings, a Superior Court judge may order an individual facing criminal charges to submit to electronic monitoring as a condition of pretrial release, potentially in conjunction with other conditions of release. Electronic monitoring shall be accomplished by requiring the individual to wear a GPS-enabled electronic ankle bracelet ("GPS device") to track the individual's movements 24 hours a day, seven days a week, provided the device continues to have battery life.
