The County of Santa Clara Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) is the local county child support agency that is responsible for ensuring that children receive the financial and medical support to which they are legally entitled. The process of securing child support involves locating non-custodial parents and their assets, establishing paternity and court orders for support, and enforcing those judgments. The Department has approximately 33,000 cases and collects over $94 million a year in child support. Approximately $3.5 million is collected via cash payments made directly at the Department's sole physical location, 880 Ridder Park Drive, San Jose, California. This facility is not a County-owned building; it is privately owned, and the Department leases it. The Department employs 226 staff members, including Attorneys, Child Support Officers, and other legal, fiscal, administrative and clerical support staff
